Terms and Conditions — Deckbase
Last updated: July 4, 2026

Welcome to Deckbase ("we", "our", or "us"). These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Deckbase website, mobile application ("App"), and any related services we provide ("Services").

By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Deckbase.

1. Overview

Deckbase is an AI-powered flashcard platform that helps users turn what they read into lasting knowledge. The app allows you to capture text from various sources, automatically generate flashcards using AI, and review them using spaced repetition for optimal retention. Deckbase promotes efficient learning and long-term memory.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use this app. By using Deckbase, you confirm that you meet this age requirement and are legally able to accept these Terms.

3. Use of the App

When using Deckbase, you agree to:

  • Use the app only for lawful purposes
  • Not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the app
  • Not use the app in a way that interferes with its normal operation or other users
  • Not copy or redistribute any part of Deckbase without written permission
  • Not use AI-generated content to violate copyright or intellectual property rights

Deckbase is intended for personal, educational, and non-commercial use of the consumer app and flashcard services. Business or automated use through API keys or MCP integrations is permitted only within the limits of your subscription plan and these Terms.

4. Content and AI Generation

Deckbase uses AI to generate flashcards from text you provide. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any content you input into the app. AI-generated flashcards are created for your personal learning use. We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated content, and you should verify important information independently.

5. Subscriptions, Refunds, and Cancellation

We sell digital subscriptions and software only; no physical goods. Return policies do not apply.

Deckbase may offer premium or paid features. Purchases may be processed via Google Play Billing (mobile), Stripe (web), or other payment providers. By subscribing or purchasing, you agree to the applicable platform terms and to the following.

Billing & renewals

  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date.
  • You will be charged at the start of each billing period (e.g. monthly or annually) until you cancel.

Cancellation policy

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation stops future charges; you keep access until the end of the current billing period. If you do not cancel before a free trial ends, the paid subscription begins automatically and the same refund terms apply. On web, you can manage and cancel via the link in your account or subscription email, or through the Stripe customer portal when available. On mobile, cancel via your device subscription settings (e.g. Google Play or App Store). We do not refund unused portions of a billing period after cancellation.

Refund policy

We do not offer refunds for subscription fees already paid, including unused portions of a billing period, except where required by applicable law or as stated by the platform (e.g. Google Play or Apple App Store refund policies). Examples of laws that may apply in certain jurisdictions include the EU/UK 14-day cooling-off right for digital services (which may be waived if you expressly consent to immediate performance) and Japan’s Act on Specified Commercial Transactions. If you believe you are entitled to a refund under applicable law, contact us at Contact us with your account and transaction details.

Disputes

For billing or payment disputes, please contact us first. If we cannot resolve the issue, you may contact your payment provider (e.g. Stripe, Google Play, Apple) in accordance with their dispute process. Chargebacks or payment disputes may result in suspension of your account until resolved.

6. Intellectual Property

All content, design, graphics, text, and code in Deckbase are the intellectual property of Deckbase and are protected by copyright and trademark laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or use any materials from the app for commercial purposes without prior written consent.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

Deckbase is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding:

  • The accuracy or reliability of AI-generated flashcards
  • The uninterrupted or error-free operation of the app
  • The suitability of Deckbase for your specific learning goals or outcomes

Deckbase is an educational learning tool and is not a substitute for professional instruction, tutoring, or academic guidance.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Deckbase and its creators are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app — including data loss, emotional distress, or productivity outcomes.

You use Deckbase at your own discretion and risk.

9. Privacy

Your use of Deckbase is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Please review it to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.

10. Third-Party Services

The app and website use third-party services to provide core functionality. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Firebase (Google LLC) — authentication, cloud sync, database, storage, analytics, and crash reporting

Your use of these services is also governed by their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their practices, content, or availability.

You should be aware that there are certain things that Deckbase will not take responsibility for. Certain functions of the app will require the app to have an active internet connection. The connection can be Wi-Fi, or provided by your mobile network provider, but Deckbase cannot take responsibility for the app not working at full functionality if you don't have access to Wi-Fi, and you don't have any of your data allowance left.

If you’re using the app outside of an area with Wi-Fi, you should remember that your terms of the agreement with your mobile network provider will still apply. As a result, you may be charged by your mobile provider for the cost of data for the duration of the connection while accessing the app, or other third-party charges. In using the app, you’re accepting responsibility for any such charges, including roaming data charges if you use the app outside of your home territory (i.e. region or country) without turning off data roaming. If you are not the bill payer for the device on which you’re using the app, please be aware that we assume that you have received permission from the bill payer for using the app.

11. API Keys and Integrations

Pro and VIP users may create API keys or connect Deckbase through the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to use features programmatically. When you use API keys or MCP integrations, you agree that:

  • You are responsible for keeping your API keys secure and for all activity that occurs under your keys.
  • You will not share, sell, resell, or sublicense API access, or use it to exceed rate limits, abuse the service, or violate applicable laws.
  • We may monitor API usage for security, billing, and abuse prevention, and may revoke keys or suspend access if we suspect misuse.
  • We store only a cryptographic hash of your API key. If a key is lost or exposed, you must revoke it and generate a new one. We cannot recover the original key.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Deckbase at any time if we believe you have violated these Terms. You may also stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it from your device or, for web users, by deleting your account or canceling your subscription.

13. Updates and Modifications

We may update Deckbase and these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll post the updated version in the app or on our website. By continuing to use Deckbase after updates, you agree to the new Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed under the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict of law principles. You agree that any disputes arising from your use of Deckbase will be handled by courts located in Tokyo, Japan.

15. Changes to Terms and Conditions

We may update our Terms and Conditions from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Terms and Conditions on this page.

These terms and conditions are effective as of July 4, 2026.
